After bringing you Singapore's first Japanese Day Umbrella 日傘 crafting workshop last year, we now present to you a brand-new Foldable Day Umbrella 折りたたみ日傘 workshop! What is a day umbrella? It is basically a parasol which is a light umbrella traditionally made of more delicate, handmade materials like cotton, plastic and lace to give shade from the sun. The key difference for this project is that you can fold the umbrella to be more compact in your bag! It even comes with a bag/cover for your foldable umbrella. In this workshop, you'll be using quality umbrella parts imported from Japan which are easy to assemble. Choose from a variety of lightly water resistant nylon taffeta prints to work with. Do note that these materials can only provide shade from the sun and shelter from very short sessions of light drizzle, but not from a heavy and windy downpour. We now also offer Liberty Poplins for this project. Do note that Liberty Poplin is 100% cotton and does not offer any water resistance. All instructions, pre-cut materials and paper pattern will be provided. You can even purchase additional umbrella parts to re-make the project at home, while stocks last.
